A chef for over two decades - Chef Kobayashi brings authentic yet modern Japanese cooking to new heights within Shadow Plays Level 45 City view Penthouse.

Enjoy an intimate, luxury setting with sensational views over Melbourne City awhile experiencing Chef Kobayashi prepare his 12-course Omakase menu just a few meters away from your seat. Chef Kobayashi began his career in his hometown of Hiroshima where he then moved to the USA and worked as a Sous Chef at 1 Michelin-star restaurant Kanoyama. Most recently here in Melbourne, he served as senior Sous chef at two hat restaurant Ishizuka from 2021-2022. Combining his experience in multiple kitchens, Chef Kobayashi has developed his vision of Omakase Kobayashi where he pursues the depth of taste and culinary mastery in his traditional form of Japanese cuisine.

An intimate dining experience with a maximum of 12 guests. Sake and wine pairing is also available to purchase (additional cost).
